Importance of Parent Volunteering and Responsibilities
How We Operate: RSST is a volunteer-run, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that relies heavily on active participation from its members, particularly parents, to ensure smooth operation and success.
Parent Volunteer / Meet Agreement:
- Parents must agree to the volunteer requirements during the registration process. Detailed information on the volunteer roles and responsibilities is available in the Parent Volunteer/Meet Requirements Agreement.
- General Requirements: Each swimmer's family must provide a parent to assist in the general operation of meets, both at home and away. This typically involves committing to a minimum of three to five jobs, which is determined by the number of families on the team, throughout the season and being available as a back-up at least once.
- Alternative Roles: Parents can also serve in board positions held year-round or as committee chairs during the season. Some committees offer helper positions that partially fulfill the volunteer requirement.
- Commitment Fee: Families unable to meet the volunteer requirement will be assessed a $200 commitment fee at the end of the season.
Signing Up for and Managing Volunteer Jobs:
- Parents are required to commit to their volunteer jobs for the entire season in advance. Notifications for sign-up will be sent via email and posted on the website once volunteer positions are available.
- To sign up, parents should log in, navigate to the "Events" tab, select the desired event, and click "Job Signup." Parents can view their assigned jobs at any time by accessing "Events" > "Reports" > "Job Signup Report for My Account."
- The meet volunteer coordinator may adjust job assignments as needed. Final job line-ups will be communicated before each meet.
Acknowledgment: The team deeply appreciates the time and effort parents contribute, as the team could not function without their generous support. Your involvement ensures a successful season for all participants. Go Seals!
